I remember our very first meeting just like it was yesterday. I remember when you first spoke to me, the first words you said to me, as ordinary as they may have seemed to me at the time. As we spoke, I began to realize how different you were from any other I would ever and will ever meet.

We haven’t known each other for more than a few months, but in these few months you’ve become one of my closest friends. I feel I’ve known you for a lifetime and I can tell you just about anything. Now that you’re gone, you’re a part of my life I will always remember. Even though you are someone I may never meet, you are unique to me. You are more than a name on my screen or just another person I chanced to meet. You are my friend.

If I never knew you, I may not miss you and wonder how you are and what you’re doing everyday. But I would also miss out on a great friend. I would have never had the great conversations I had with you. And If I never knew you, I would not have memories of you to remember to cheer me up and make me smile when I need it most. Meeting you and knowing you is something I will never regret.

No one will ever be able to take your place in my life, even though you are gone. There will always be a place for you in my heart, my friend, and maybe, just maybe, there’ll be a day you will return to give me more memories to remember and smile about.
